    1. Hehehe, me too!! And I am soooooo jealous of the person who actually got to pet that baby bat! I got to help free a bat once that got lost and ended up stuck inside our lobby, but it wasn't quite the same thing.

    4. You freed a bat that got lost in the lobby? There's an interesting story there I'm sure.

    5. Well, I don't know how interesting it is to others but here it is... The lobby was the main administration room for our university, where Cashiers and Admissions were located. It was two floors high with HUGE glass walls on three sides, and the elevator banks on the back wall with stairwells on both sides. The very top floor was home to a huge chunk of electronic equipment, and a large colony of bats. This little guy got lost in the stairwell, and the only open doors were to the lobby, so down and out he came! Of course, several people were terrified, while others thought it was hilarious. A student's dad and I were the only ones brave enough to try to corral this poor, terrified bat that was swooping around trying to get out and ending up flat against the windows or down behind furniture and cubicle walls. He finally caught it -- with his bare hands -- and we took it outside and got a good close look at it before we released it. It did NOT even try to bite him. It was a bit bright out, but the little guy appeared to know where he was going, thank goodness!

  2. Love this pic. At Whitby GW there is always a bat preservation collection, and they often bring the cute little blighters with them to stroke. Mega cuteness :)

  3. So cute! I have patted Aussie flying foxes before! They have fox faces! Adorable! You arent' supposed to handle them now without inoculations though or you can get sick.

Happy October Lucretia! I love this season, we have all the warm colours on the trees right now, it's very soothing for the eye and mind.

    1. Happy October and Halloween to you as well! :-) We're still in the midst of a small heat wave, known here as "Indian summer", but I hope it goes away soon! Our trees are also losing their leaves, but it's not as pretty here in California as it is there, I'm sure.
