Today at work we had all our Hallowe'en parties (various departments). Normally I take a vacation day on October 31st, but since tomorrow is a Saturday and I was already out two days this week, I decided I needed to put in an appearance. But what to wear???
I didn't actually think of this costume until yesterday morning. I had all the various materials needed, I just had to find them and put them together. And it actually worked!!
For those who have NO idea what I'm supposed to be, I am a Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) bride. NOT the Bride of Frankenstein, as two people thought. The temporary tattoos worked quite well! The one on my nose is a bit crooked, but that's because it got broken when they buried me. ;-)
You can't see them, but I'm also wearing shiny red raw silk heels (which would have been killing me if I hadn't already been dead). Please excuse the mess in my office! And unfortunately, I had to stand in front of my neat Hallowe'en decorations. Oh well!!
Now to go snitch some more lumpia from the food area before they clear it all away... ;-)

I'm Being Published!!!
I'm SOOOO excited, and I just have to share my excitement with you! :-)
Back in June/July, I submitted two short stories to online journals; one went to a new online journal called the "Women in Horror Annual" and the other went to "Monsters and the Monstrous", which has been around for a few years. Last Friday, I got an e-mail from one of the editors of the "Women in Horror Annual" that my story has been accepted for publication! Of course, it will need some editing, but hey, that will be a good learning experience for me. As long as they don't want to turn it into a completely different story with a different ending, I'm sure we can work it out. ;-)
Technically, this isn't my first time being published, as I have had original poetry included in two printed pagan books, but they were published under my Craft name, and at least one probably had a much smaller readership. This will be published under my legal name, and I will be able to include it on my resume/CV. So this one actually means a lot more to me!
Here is their website, if you're interested: Women in Horror Annual
And here is a cool pic, just because... ;-)

October: I'm SO Goth..."
Hey, even Death has to take a break sometimes, especially this month, when he's so busy...
Happy Hallowe'en!!!
Happy Hallowe'en!!!
Hallowe'en "13 Things" Tag!
Thanks to Natalie of Gothy Two Shoes for tagging me on this! :-)
Questions:
1. Favorite Halloween song?
"Monster Mash"!! I especially like the Groovie Ghoulies video version on YouTube.
2. Witch or Vampire?
Depends on the year, I tend to switch back and forth. But the witch usually wins.
3. Favorite thing about Halloween?
Everything!
4. Halloween party or scary movie marathon?
A Hallowe'en party with a scary movie marathon running would be perfect!
5. Skeletons or Zombies?
Skeletons, every time!
6. Favorite Halloween candy?
If it's chocolate, it's my favorite.
7. Favorite Halloween movie?
"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" When I was growing up, my mom and I watched it on TV every year. After Stuart was born, we got the video and watched it every year. And now I watch it every year on DVD, but I don't always wait until Hallowe'en! ;-)
8. Favorite Halloween costume?
Believe it or not, my favorite costume was an angel. My mom made it for me, and I had a 38" wingspan with the wings outlined in silver Christmas tree garland. I had to take the bus to get to the church party, and it was hilarious getting on and off! We had a spook alley, with tours led by a devil (of course!), and all the little kids stuck to me because they were scared. (It was really too gruesome for the little ones.) And the devil and I sniped at each other the whole time, it was totally fun!
9. Favorite Halloween store?
It used to be the Spirit Store, but they've gotten rather lame the past few years. So now I don't have a favorite yet, still looking!
10. Jack-o-lanterns, yes or no?
I've never been a big fan, but the fancy-carved ones are killer!! (Did you know the original Jack-o-lanterns were made with turnips???)
11. Bats or Black Cats?
BOTH!! I love them both, and we have 3.5 black cats at home. So I've got cats and bats all over my home and office.
12. Is Halloween your favorite holiday?
Do you REALLY need me to answer this one??? Hmmmm???
13. Pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate?
Absolutely, hot chocolate!
I'm not going to tag anyone on this, as most people I read have already been tagged, but feel free to answer them if you want, and you can consider yourself tagged!
